CBLN Mission Statement

The Cheyenne Business Leadership Network is an employer led initiative dedicated to providing opportunities to build a diverse workforce and customer base that includes persons with disabilities.

Our program goals include developing business leaders who actively promote recruiting and retaining employees and customers with disabilities, and to provide disability awareness to the general public.

The Cheyenne BLN is sponsored by the Wyoming Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Synergy HRD & Associates, and many local businesses.

Promoting the Employment of People with Disabilities

The Wyoming Business Leadership Network was formed to help employers improve their hiring results (and ultimately their business' success) towards people with disabilities - Cheyenne's most readily available source of talented, motivated prospective employees..

HISTORY

The BLN was begun as a national initiative of the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities in 1994. The program hinges on a fundamental premise that success breeds success, and that when employers get together to discuss the benefits to their organizations of hiring job candidates with disabilities, other employers are inspired to do the same. Over 35 BLN's now exist throughout America, and the WBLN is one of the newest and most innovative coalitions to join the national network.

HOW IT WORKS

Business and community leaders are invited to join our local network. In partnership with the State of Wyoming - Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other important community employment agencies, WBLN staff work with individual employers across the state to develop a local BLN Steering Committee to help guide local BLN development activities. Training, technical support and other resources are then provided to help encourage improved hiring results within the disability community.

The WBLN motto is to provide low-cost, high impact activities and services which:

  • Promote best practices relating to employment and people with disabilities
  • Provide networking and professional development opportunities for employers who want to have better access to the disability community
  • Build effective connections between employers and community partners
  • Improve the response time in delivering qualified job candidates to employers
  • Access quality, career-oriented employment opportunities for job seekers
  • Encourage creative, aggressive employer disability recruitment outreach efforts
