Promoting the Employment of People with DisabilitiesThe Wyoming Business Leadership Network was formed to help employers improve their hiring results (and ultimately their business' success) towards people with disabilities - Cheyenne's most readily available source of talented, motivated prospective employees.. HISTORYThe BLN was begun as a national initiative of the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities in 1994. The program hinges on a fundamental premise that success breeds success, and that when employers get together to discuss the benefits to their organizations of hiring job candidates with disabilities, other employers are inspired to do the same. Over 35 BLN's now exist throughout America, and the WBLN is one of the newest and most innovative coalitions to join the national network. To learn more about the national BLN - contact Carol Dunlap at the Office of Disability Employment Policy in Washington DC at (202) 376-6200 or E-mail: dunlap-carol@dol.gov HOW IT WORKSBusiness and community leaders are invited to join our local network. In partnership with the State of Wyoming - Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other important community employment agencies, WBLN staff work with individual employers across the state to develop a local BLN Steering Committee to help guide local BLN development activities. Training, technical support and other resources are then provided to help encourage improved hiring results within the disability community.
