What is a BLN?Promoting the Employment of People with Disabilities HISTORYThe BLN was established as a national initiative of the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities in 1994. The program hinges on a fundamental premise that success breeds success, and that when employers get together to discuss the benefits to their organizations of hiring job candidates with disabilities, other employers are inspired to do the same. Over 40 BLN's now exist throughout America - visit www.USBLN.com for more information on the national network. HOW IT WORKSBusiness and community leaders are invited to join our local network. In partnership with government, community organizations, educators and the disability community, BLN staff work with individual employers to develop a local BLN Steering Committee to help guide BLN development activities. Training, technical support and other resources are then provided to help encourage improved hiring results and outreach within the disability community.
